To apply for the PMP, you need to have either:

  • A secondary degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree, or the global equivalent) with at least five years of project management experience, with 7,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education.

 

OR

 

  • A four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or the global equivalent) and at least three years of project management experience, with 4,500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education.

 

 

Candidates must complete an application. Candidates are encouraged to apply online at pmi.org. (Printable application forms are available at pmi.org.) Once started, the application may not be cancelled but may be saved unfinished. It will remain open for 90 days.

  • Cost for PMI members is $405.
  • Cost for nonmembers is $555.

The cost for PMI membership is $129/year (plus a $10 application fee).. Membership in a local PMI chapter is an additional fee which varies by chapter.
